Bench Heating

Certain crops are grown or propagated on fixed or moving benches.  In this scenario, a slightly different approach is taken to heating.  One option is to place heat rails in the substructure under the bench.  This in addition to over bench heat rails will give the grower an optimal level of environmental control.  If heating requirements are minimal and the only concern is the direct root zone of the plant, capillary mats can be used which sit directly under the growing media.  These heating mats are a very effective means in keeping only the root zone of the plant warm with a minimal amount of energy.
